“Making Money."
Vancouver Fraud Robs Family. lif EMBERS of a Vancouver family are mourning the loss of 300 dollars invested in a “ money-making ” scheme, according to their report to the police. A stranger with a pleasing personality gained the confidence of the family and became a visitor to the home. One day lie disclosed that he had a method of making “ easy ” money. To prove this declaration he produced a machine resembling a pres--. In this he placed a 20-dollar bill and a piece of blank paper of the same size. Both were left in the press for some time. When the machine was again opened it was found that the blank paper had become a crisp 20-dollar bill. After some persuasion, the stranger induced members of the family to produce 300 dollars. These bills were to be duplicated in the machine for the profit of the family. The bills were plated in the press and, after warning members of the family against tampering with the machine until the following day. the man depa’rted. One of the family, however, became suspicious and opened the machine before the appointed time and found that it contained only blank paper. T
