The German Owl.
Dear Sir, —In view of the publicity given to the German owl menace I thought that some people might like to know my experience wdth this pest. There used to be a good many owls round our locality until some neighbouring old wooden buildings were pulled down. I was told that the owls would disappear then because old buildings harboured them, and sure enough I hardly ever hear one now. Of course this is not to say that they are eradicated. They have probably gone into the bush to destroy the native birds there, but as many of the native birds visit our garden, particularly in the winter, we were especially glad to get rid of the owl witfi its hateful, ominous hoot.:—l am, etc., > - COUNTRYMAN.
