ENTERS NEW TERM.

Mr F. Purnell’s Record in Marton Borough. Per Press Association. MARTON, This Day. With fifty years to his credit in local body service, Mr F. Purnell last evening entered a new term as Mayor after thirteen years and a half in that capacity. The occasion was marked by a ceremony unique in Marton, by the induction at a public meeting of the Mayor and councillors, all having been returned unopposed.

Replying to eulogistic speeches and a presentation, Mr Purnell said it was well to remember that New Zealand was a young country and should not attempt to do things too quickly. Along the present lines, Marton was entirely free of debt for fifteen years.
