HOLLYWOOD MUST PAY.
New Tax on Incomes for California. (Special —Bv Ail- Mail.) SACRAMENTO, April 13. A State income tax is to be imposed in California for the first time. The Legislature to-day overwhelmingly approved a plan under which the 300.000 wealthier people in the State will contribute 14.000.000 dollars (£2.800,000) a year. This will hit Hollywood hard, but at the same time the Government killed a proposal for a lew <~>f a cent a foot on all film produced. California expects that while the movie colony will grumble hard thev will not emigrate en masse to Florida yet awhile.
