FINAL GALLOPS.
Many Visiting Horses Work at Riccarton. TAURAMAI AND POLYDORA. Overnight showers seemed to have had little effect on the tracks at Riccarton this morning though they were a trifle dead at the outset. The outside of the course proper was open and it experienced a busy time. There -was a “ nip ” in the air but conditions were excellent for galloping. Fracas ran a mile in lmin 47sec, the first half in 52sec. Bunfight ran six furlongs in lmin 15 3-ssec, the first five in lmin 2 4-ssec. Owlsgleam travelled leisurely to run five furlongs in lmin 7sec. Variant and Ilostis, who worked usefully yesterday, ran down the straight. Hororata got over five furlongs in lmin 5 4-ssec, the last half mile in 52 2-ssec. Cranford went nicely over seven furlongs, his time being lmin 30sec. Astraea, Taillight and Panegyric were in that order at the end of half a mile in 50sec. Sky Rover travelled a mile in lmin 45sec. Seafox Coming On. Silly Owl and Knock Out ran seven furlongs in lmin 33 4-ssec. Knowledge and Greek Shepherd, in running five furlongs in lmin 3sec, did the last half-mile in 50see. Seafox, picked up by Riptide at the half-mile, went seven furlongs in lmin 30sec. He went very nicely. Grand Review got over seven furlongs in lmin 33 2-ssec. Lucetta occupied lmin 34 3-ssec on a similar trip. Mi nerval, travelling at an even pace, ran a mile in lmin 45 2-ssec. Kemal Pasha was elear of Chidden at the end of a mile in lmin 46sec, but neither appeared to be ridden out. Sam Smith beat Rebel Chief by two lengths over seven furlongs in lmin 31 2-ssec. They were slowing down a lot in the closing stages. Lady Zephyr went a mile In lmin 46sec. Emissary and Moonbeam w’ere companions for six furlongs run in lmin Glowlight got over -six furlongs in lmin 18 2-7,sec. Cape Gabo beat Battle Queen over five furlongs in lmin 5 2-ssec. Red Dance and Cleaner ran five furlongs in lmin 4 4-ssec. Picked up by the Robespierre colt inside the half-mile, Tuirau ran seven furlongs in lmin 32 3-ssec. Good Efforts. Might and Cuddle pleased over a mile. They ran the first half-mile in 51 2-ssec and the full journey in lmin 43 2-ssec. , , A first-class effort by Tauramai and Polydora followed. ‘With fair weights up thev ran seven furlongs in lmin 28sec. Their riders said afterwards that both mounts were all out, but they pulled up well. • Culotte and Concert Pitch got over half a mile in 50sec-. Master Tony and John Ball went five furlongs in lmin 6 2-ssec. Going along the back Capital ran half a mile in 51 sec. Rerepai and Princess Doreen had full pace on for the last half-mile of their work and they ran the four furlongs in 4 9 sec. Importance and Imperial Spear -went seven furlongs in lmin 34sec. Gay Crest and Tout le Monde dashed over half a mile in 51 2-ssee. Rebel Queen and Lowater got to the end of five furlongs in lmin 4 2-ssec. Heritage did a strong six furlongs. Tooley Street easily beat Lady Lucas over five furlongs in lmin 5 2-ssee. Silver Sight was a length in front of Ho row hen ur when seven furlongs had been run in lmin 29 4-fsec. Jolly Beggar and Glenavon galloped half a mile in 51 l-ssec. Silver Streak and Tizzy were associated for five furlongs. They finished together in lmin 4sec. Gold Label and Rotokino were to have galloped together but the latter broke away a long way in front. Gold Label ran half a mile in 49 4-ssee. Courtyard and Star Raider wore companions for a mile in lmin 45sec. Manetlio and Grey Honour dashed over three furlongs along the back In 38sec. Polygraph and Malvasia ran half a mile in 49 4-ssec. Viking worked usefully on the plough. J. O. E. Jones has arrived from Blenhelm with Pawky, Korero, Isaacs and Zionist. Jumpers School. Ridden by G. Barr. Fleeting Glance jumped the two brush hurdles in the straight attractively. Palmary (R. Beale) and Nightcap (G. Murfitt) were also sent over these obstacles. Nightcap made a clumsy job of the first and baulked at the second dislodging Murfitt, who escaped injury. Palmary jumped the two fairly well. Nightcap was remounted and accompanied by Palmary had another try. Palmary again shaped much the better.
Radiant Rose CW. Lawson) did much better than Royal Amphora (G. Murfitt) over the same two brush hurdles.
