GREY DISTRICT NEWS. Hockey Competitions Opened. (Special to the “ Star.”) GREYMOUTH, April IS. Hockey competitions were commenced .eeterday in fine weather. Two games were played at Rugby Park. Mawhera met and defeated Cobden by 4 goals to 1, after a good game. For Mawhera, Scandrett (2), Walker and Scott goaled. Weir scored for Cobden. Pacific defeated Technical by 4 goals to 2. Sequin (3) and Pascoe scored for Pacific. Vaughan and Smythe scored for Technical. in«n Park Sports. Arrangements are well in hand for the holding of a monster sports programme at M’Lean Park on Easter Monday. There are nine basketball teams Cl^f red * or tbe Hannan Cup. There will be a tug-of-war contest for the Snowflake Cup, at present held by the Main School team. Afternoon tea, soft drinks and ice-cream will be procurable on the ground, while there will also be numerous side-shows. White, Mrs White receiving her guests attired in a maroon ensemble, with hat to tone. The bridegroom’s mother wore a black costume, with white hat and shoes. Mr and Mrs Lines, ju-n., left later on a visit to the South Westland glaciers.
