Morse, is having a run of ill-luck, the latest manifestation*. of which is the serious injury td his promising j.umper Arch Ruler. In a fall in the hurdle race on the second day at Dargarville, Arch Ruler injured a shoulder and he will probably need a long spell. Arch Ruler has been left at Dargarville indefinitely. « GAY SHIELD’S SUCCESSOR. The stalljon Foxbridge, purchased by Mr L. O. ,Otwav, of Pukekura (Cambridge), arrived at Wellington this week. A good-looking horse, standing 16 hands, he is by the Ascot Gold Cup winner Foxlaw, from Bridgemount, .dam of the One Thousand Guineas winner Cresta Run. He is by Bridge of Earn from Mountain Mint, by Spearmint from Adula, a sister to Pretty Polly. Foxbridge was purchased by Mr J. V. Rank at the December sale in England in 1934 for £2500. He won the Atlantic Cup of £2500 at Liverpool, and finished third in the Eclipse Stakes to Loamingdale and Firdaussi. He has several other good performances to his credit, and ! it is hoped Mr Otway will have a ■ worthy successor to Gay Shield. WALTON PARK’S FORM. Walton Park has not been long in after a spell and has been improving with every race. On the first day’s running, says the “ Wellington Post.” he looked the bet of the meeting in the Mangahao Handicap at Pahiatua on Wednesday, and he duly won well if not by a big margin, from La Poupee. These -two horses repeated last year’s result in the race, when they also finished first and second with a neck between them. Walton Park ran a characteristic race at the back, but he was never far fro'm the front. La Poupee made the running, with Lady Spy Eminent at length and a half intervals, and the other pair close behind. Walton Park being on the inside of Yertigern. They had closed the gaps before reaching the straight, but although La Poupee valiantly fought her challengers she could not cope with the long, loping strides of the topweight, who gradually wore her down and beat her by a good neck. Walton Park is now not very far from his best form again, and. on big courses he should shortly add to his winning record. lie is booked for a trip down to contest the Riverton Cup on Easter Saturday, and his Pahiatua form makes him a good prospect for such a race if he travels satisfactorily. C.J.C. ENGAGEMENTS. - llum P hr >es will ride Rerepai in the Great Easter and Imperial Spear ... e . rea * Autumn Handicap. L. J. Ellis will handle Tauramai in both races.
