“ONE NIGHT OF LOVE.”
Hollywood Stars Praise Grace Moore’s Film.
A precedent was set recently in Hollywood when many of the leading stars of to-day joined in praising Grace Moore’s performance in “ One Night of Love,” which is now being screened at the Mayfair Theatre. Not only the star, but also the picture as a whole, received the highest compliments from famous players. Some of the best-known stars, Mary Pickford, Maurice Chevalier, Ruth Chatterton. Norma Shearer, Herbert Marshall and Gloria Swanson, were among those who sent their praise to Grace Moore and the executives of Columbia Pictures following a private preview in Hollywood after the picture had been completed. “Miss Moore’s performance utterly charming and the whole picture a delightful entertainment,” was the comment Mary .Pickford expressed on seeing the film. This praise is of special note, since members of the acting coterie are acknowledged to be their own severest critics. Work must pass a very high grade of excellence to warrant such praise.. Ruth Chatterton revealed her appreciation when she commented:
“Grace Moore’s picture, ‘.One Night of Love,’ proves Miss Moore is one of the most personalities on the screen ’ Maurice Chevalier offered the follo-wfing: “ Great entertainment. A picture so new it will start a new cycle.. Grace Moore’s performance magnifique Success of this picture should put those two friends of mine where they belong professional! v—that is, with the top-notchers.” In line with the general enthusiasm shown by Pickford, Chatterton and Chevalier is the sincere note sent Grace Moore by Norma Shearer directly following the preview: “Dear Grace,” she xvrote, “ I was so happy over great personal triumph in your new picture. Gloria Swanson wrote as follows: . One Night of Love’ was such an exciting picture to me. I was thrilled by it. These are representative of many others—all of them consistently fine. “One Night of Love” has already captured America.
