More Milk Arithmetic.

To Correspondents.

Cleopatra.—The addresses you require ar as follow:—John Murray, Ltd., 50, Alt* marie Street, London. W. 1.; Gollancs Ltd., 14, Henrietta Street, Covent Garder London. The American comedienne UnMerkel has appeared in many successfu Hollywood productions, including “ Pr: rate Lives,” ” Huddle,” “ Red-headec Woman ” and “ The Cat’s Paw.” Th< German actress Magda Schneider is wel known for her work in both Continenta and British productions. Other informs tion not available.

Dear Sir,—“Taranaki Jack’s” arithmetic on butterfat production supplying a butte factory in comparison with the supply o mills for the city the year round is sadl> astray. If he is a Taranaki “ Jack,” as hi name implies, he should enter into the towi trade and give dairymen a lead as to hov it can be done for less. I was in Taranak about 1901 and it was considered in those days that the reflection of dairying activi ties turned the clouds green. The Taranak “ Jacks “ that came into the villages wen easily recognised as their hands were con tinually twitching and working as if the} were pulling the cow’s teats. “ Taranak Jack" endeavours to lead your readers t< believe that he knows something about the Wellington City Council milk supply. Hen is a little arithmetic for him. Milk is sup plied in bottles to shops in Christchurch a lOd per gallon. Any milk the shopkeepei does not sell is taken back by the dairy men to ensure a fresh supply. The cos of bottles, depreciation, capping, sterilising delivery costs and return of unsold mill amounts to not less than 7d per gallon leaving 3d per gallon for production anc farm costs. Could “ Taranaki Jack," wit! his knowledge of Wellington’s milk supply verify the accuracy or otherwise of thi statement; will he honestly say whether i is more or less?— l am, etc., DAIRYMAN
