“MISTER CINDERS.”
Sparkling British Musical Comedy. Madame Du Barry," starring Dolores Del Rio, will conclude its season at the Plaza Theatre on Fridav night. English humour of the brightest variety is offered in “ Mister Cinders,” the sparkling British musical comedy which will head the new programme at the Plaza Theatre on Saturday. Taken from the popular stage play of the same name, the film is to some extent a parody of the Cinderella theme, but it follows no strict rules. It is an excellent farce, and the performances of the irrepressible Clifford Mollison and the vivacious Zelma O’Neal are refreshing for their sheer youthful spirit and clever comedy. Clifford Mollison appears in the unfortunate position of a poor relation in a lordly English home, dominated by his aunt whose ambitions are more financial’ tnan social. An American millionaire makes his residence on a neighbouring estate, and his fortune, through his daughter, played by Zelma O’Neal becomes a convenient target for the aunt who loses no time in pressing the claims of her two indolent, if amusing sons, and keeping Mollison in the background. Through a contretemps, Zelma O Neal finds herself appointed a housemaid in the home, and she has an advantage in discovering the machinations of the aunt at first hand The story reaches its climax in a county social event. Mollison is excluded from appearing among the best people, until he is given a Cin-derella-hke opportunity of being present as an entirely different person. Highly amusing events, in which th= aspirations of his aunt are completely exposed and his romance with the young American heiress is fulfilled, follow rapidly There is a wealth of musical numbers to garnish the succession of entertaining situations, which are cleverly presented by a capable ThC - , Wcstern Brothers, two highly original performers, are among the players to give signallv good entertainment and their 'songs can scarcely fail to appeal. There is a strong burlesque element in their art^-i® nd these players reveal great apability. Box plans at the D.I.C.
