IDOLATROUS NAZIS.
Placing Germany Before God. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. BERLIN, March 11. The Confessional Synod’s proclamation is the most outspoken denunciation of the anti-Christian tendencies of the Nazi extremists yet published. It was read publicly before 10,000 Protestant parishioners on Sunday. The protest denounces the methods of Reich Bishop Mueller as an attempt to adopt “Blood, race and nationality as religious principles and to substitute faith in an eternal Germany for faith in Jesus Christ, thereby committing idolatry.” The protest concludes that the Church’s duty is to preach the Gospel and that it must refuse to be driven into a mere backwater of private devotion.
