LATE SPORTING.

Good Efforts in Trent hart. Gallops. PRINCESS DOREEN GOES WELL. (Special to the “Star.”) WELLINGTON, This Day. ork at Trentham this morning was mainly a repetition of Saturday’s tasks, but one or two good efforts were recorded. The plough track, which was very fast, was used exclusively. The star performance of the morning was Princess Doreen’s defeat of Might over a mile. Might jumped away two lengths in front and ran the first two furlongs in 26sec and the first halfmile in slsec. Nearing the straight the mare drew past her companion, and although Might was coming again at the end, she beat him home by half a length. Might’s time for the mile was lmin 40 4-ssec, and Princess Doreen’s would be better—excellent figures for the Trentham plough. Might is to run in the Thompson Handicap and so will Princess Doreen, unless rain falls, when the sprint will be her mission. If the mare starts in the Thompson she will be ridden by L. J. Ellis, otherwise by S. Wilson. The two-year-old Le Grand showed something of what might be expected from a colt of his breeding in beating Fulojoy by three lengths over half a mile in 49 2-ssec. Le Grand was shin sore earlier in the season, but he has thrown this trouble off now and is steadily improving. Red Sun and Sunee went in their usual attractive track manner, when recording lmin 2 3-ssec for five furlongs, the last half-mile being run in 49sec. Orby’s Last also galloped well over the distance, conceding the two-year old Shirley Dene two lengths’ start and beating her by a length and a half in lmin 2 4-ssec, the last half-mile being done in 49 l-ssec. The other work was not instructive. No visitors are yet on the scene. Owing to the small field for the St Leger a decision has been made to run this as the first event. Notes From Addington Track. The weather was congenial and the track in good order for training work at Addington this morning. The best performances were recorded by Cheohaheo, Blandford and Charteris Vale. The journey was a mile and a half. Blandford made the early running to Charteris Vale and Chechahco. On reaching the four-furlong post Shoelace joined them. Blandford held the lead until nearing the mile and a quarter station, where Chechahco and Charteris Vale moved up to him. In the run home this trio raced together, and crossed the line on terms. Shoelace being tw’o lengths away. The first half-mile was covered in lmin lOsec, mile in 2min 18sec, mile and a quarter in 2min 51sec and the full distance in 3min 24 2-ssec.
