UTILITY POULTRY.
Judges Nominated for June Show. The New Zealand Utility Poultry Club held a meeting; in the Chamber of Commerce Hall last evening, Mr T. S. Dove presiding over a very large attendance. The Christchurc-h Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Club wrote stating that a conference of specialist clubs be held to arrange judges for the June show. Messrs Pollard, Ashworth and Turner were appointed to meet the other specialist clubs on Monday evening. - The nomination of judges was as follows: White Leghorn—Messrs F. Ashworth and J. Liggins. Any other colour Leghorns—Mr S. F. Marshall. Minorca—Mr T. S. Dove. Utility heavy breeds, all Orpington—Mr J. D. Gobbe. Australorps— Mr A. W. Pritchard and Mr B. Cotterell. Sussex—Mr S. Atkinson. All other variety heavy breeds— Mr J. D. Gobbe. Ducks—Mr J. D. Gobbe. Eggs and poultry—Mr W. Turner. The caretaker reported that a number of birds had gone into a moult. A total of 396 dozen eggs were marketed for the month. The ducks have shown some improvement since last meeting. It was agreed that the owners of the birds in the sweepstakes test be written to to inquire if they wished to have their birds returned. It was agreed to invite all the federation branches to pay visits to the egglaying competitions before the close of the tests on or before March 23. It was agreed that any birds in the experimental test likely to gain a certificate be left the full time. Messrs A. Coombes and R. Watkins were elected members of the club. Mr Harrison gave a. talk on Australian Orpingtons, and referred to the condition of the egg industry. He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
