AERIAL PROPHECY.

Breakfast in Sydney—Dine in Wellington. SIR KEITH SMITH'S SPEECH. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received March 6. 11.45 am.) SYDNEY. This Day. Sir Keith Smith, in an address, made a prophecy that the operation of a regular trans-Tasman air-mail would not be practicable until 1937. lie said: “ Do not think we can start a service to-day or to-morrow which will be punctual for seven days a week. Organisation similar to the big shipping services will be required. High-speed

flying-boats, capable of 200 miles an hour, with a range of at least 1600 miles will have to be built, and weather data will have to be specially collected over at least two years. By 1937, however, it should be possible to breakfast in Sydney at 8 o’clock in the morning, dine in Wellington at 6 in the evening, and have a safe and comfortable trip across the Tasman in between.”
