S. BRIGHTON PROGRESS.
The president (Mr F. S. Woodward) was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the South Brighton Progress League held in the South Brighton Hall last night. Three new members were elected. A letter was received from the Medical Officer of Health (Dr T. Fletcher Telford) stating that, with Senior Inspector Nicol, he had inspected the c-hannelling in Beatty Street complained of by the league and had found it unsatisfactory. He had interviewed the town clerk and had been informed that the matter would be dealt with early in the coming financial year. It was decided that no councillors would he nominated by the league for the forthcoming elections, but that instead the league would support candidates who give satisfactory answers to questions to be put to them during the campaign. The report of the secretary of the Gala Committee (Mr A. S. Paterson) showed that the profit from the gala held on January 2 was £24 13s. The allocation was left in the hands of the executive, with power to act.
