Gatherings Held in Town and Country. PRE-WEDDING PARTY. Mrs Barclay, Cashel Street, entertained a number of friends at a kitchen evening in honour of Miss Trixie Joblin and Mr Harry Philbriek, whose marriage will take place shortly. The evening was spent in games and dancing. Songs were sung by Misses Joyce Wayne, Mary Hurley and Grace Clark, and Miss Cath Walton and Mr R. Barclay gave a tap dance. Messrs Ray Marquet, Colin Brown and Arthur Baines supplied the music. Among those present were:—Mr and Mrs Stevenson, Mr and Mrs Champion, Mesdames Ussher (Little River), Hurley and Barclay, Misses Trixie Joblin, Joyce Wayne, Phyllis Rae, Joyce Pearce, Molly Ferguson, Natalie and Joan Pooley, Nellie and Ivy Taylor, Nancy Toblin, Iris Reed, Mary Hurley, Grace Clark, Ada and Joyce Barclay, Gwen Reed (Little River), Cath Walton, Norah Lagan, Bell and Ina Stevenson, Messrs H. Philbriek, J. O’Hara, B. Stuart, R. Marquet, A. Baines, J. Joblin, R. Barclay, H. Pearce, E Kennerley, M. Price, P. Lagan, C. Brown, W. Wilson, J. Daley, J. Hathaway, L. Stevenson, C. Thomas, B. Tosswill and W. Badger. Coming of Age Celebrated. An enjoyable party was held on Saturday evening to celebrate the coming of age of Arthur, only son of Air and Mrs R. Sutherland, Montreal Street. Mrs R. Sutherland, the hostess, wore a dress of blue georgette. Games and dancing were enjoyed. Mr R. Sutherland presented his son with a gold key. Among those present were:—Mr and Mrs R. Sutherland, Mr and Mrs A. Brennan, Mr and Mrs R. C. Hocking, Mr and Mrs S Claridge, Mesdames T. Findlay, M. Metcalf (Wellington) and D. Forsey (Waikari), Misses A. Crail, M. Quigley, P. Hocking, V. Hocking, N. □laridge, M. Claridge, W. Stevens and P. Beecham, Messrs A. Sutherland and J oh ns. Kitchen livening. On Tuesday evening Misses Joyce Shaw and Clarice Busch, of Amberley, were joint hostesses at a kitchen evening held at the residence of Mrs J. Shaw. This was in honour of Miss Doris Manning, who is shortly to be married. Competitions were won by Miss Marie Busch and Air W. J. Watson, and items were contributed by Airs Eric Alanning, Misses Joyce Shaw, Clarice Busch, Alarjorie Frew and Air K. Perry. Air E. L. Alanning, on behalf of his sister, thanked the guests for the many useful gifts. Amongst those present were: Airs J. Shaw, Airs C. H. Manning, Mrs R. Obery, and Mrs E. L. Alanning; Alisses Doris Alanning, Joyce Shaw, Phyllis, Alarie and Clarice Busch, Edith Howard, Edna and Thelma Payne, Evelyn George, Elizabeth Chamberlain, Alarjorie Frew, Gladys Hadley, Patricia Obery, Molly and Joan Croft, Messrs E. L. Alanning, Les and Tom Croft, N. Rollinson, W. J. Watson, L. Taylor, R. and D. Coleman, K. Perry, G. Belcher, R. Boon, A. George and F. R. Busch.
