National Diving Titles Retained. TESTS AT AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 19. The final stage of the men’s and women’s diving championships of New Zealand was decided at the Mount Eden Baths this morning, and after the points had been computed, it was announced that W. Hassan (Auckland) and Aliss M. Price (Wellington) had retained their titles. The first stage was taken at the Tepid Baths last Saturday evening from the low board, and all dives to-day were from the high board, each contestant doing eight dives. The final awards were:— AIEN’S DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP. W. Hassan (Auckland), 107.72 points 1 A. W. Wesney (Southland), 107.41 points 2 D. KELLERMAN CUP. Maori Beats Webster by Three Yards. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 19. The Annette Kellerman Cup, which is awarded for an annual swimming race of three miles in open water, and decided in conjunction with the national championships, was won to-day by L. Yates, a member of the Maori team from Rotorua. He had a start of 12min from the scratch man, Webster, of Auckland, with whom he fought out the closest finish in the fourteen years the race has been contested, defeating him by three yards. Yates’s time was 2hr 12min 35sec. Webster made fastest time with 2hr 39sec, a fine achievement. Webster will receive a gold medal. Second fastest time of 2hr 12min ssec was registered by L. G. Smith, Auckland, who filled third place. There were twenty-one competitors, including four women, Misses Lewis Grey, Kathleen Bull, Jean Tingle and G. Galloway, all of Auckland. OVERSEAS CHAMPIONS. Chinese and Frenchmen to Swim Here. Plans for the appearance in Christchurch of the overseas champion swimmers now touring the Dominion were decided upon at last evening’s meeting of the Canterbury Swimming Centre. The tourists are the two Frenchmen, Jean Taris and Emile Poussard, and Die Chinese, Kwok Chun Hang, and will appear at a centre carnival to be held at the Tepid Baths on Monday, March'll. Taris will race in an invitation 440yds handicap and Poussard will compete in an invitation handicap dive, while Kwok will appear in an invitation 220yds handicap breaststroke race. In addition the three visitors will give exhibitions. The following will be asked to compete in the invitation events:—Dive: Poussard, E. Crossley, S. Muff, C. R. Rlordan, H. Nunes and L. Doinldson. 440yds: Taris, D. H. Symes, C. Cliff. M. Connor, A. T- F. Stokes and M. R. Rattray (emergency). 220yds breaststroke: Kwok, H. Horsfall, J. Bruce, L. Newell and P G. Roberts. Other handicap events on the programme will be a first-class men’s 100yds (64see limit), men’s 66 2-3yds open, 33 l-3yds women’s event, and fourlength medley relay (scratch). There will also be a novelty event. Other Business. Mr P. R. Smith forwarded his resignation from the Water Polo Control Committee. He was asked to reconsider his decision and agreed to do so provided that ail the work in controlling the polo matches was “not left to one member who was keen enough to go along to the baths.” He considered that the lack of organisation was most disappointing to junior players. The chairman (Mr M. E. Lyons) said lie was pleased that Mr Smith would

reconsider his decision, and gave him an assurance that he would con sene a special meeting of the Control Committee to straighten up the position. The blast Christchurch Glub forwarded a donation of a guinea towards the cost of the board of the Canterbury team in Auckland.
