A MAGNETIC DRAMA.
“ The Man WEo Reclaimed His Head.”
Outcast Lady,” a clever screen adaptation of Michael Aden’s widehread novel, “The Green Hat,” is offered at the Tivoli Theatre this week. Constance Bennett, a star whose striking personalit> z and talent for playing deeply-emotional roles, have assured her a large following, takes the part of Iris, and opposite her, in the role of Napier, is that faultless actor, Herbert Marshall, whose flair for romantic portrayals, particularly when there is a touch of drama, eminently suits him for the part. “The Man Who Reclaimed 11 is Head,” which will be presented at the Tivoli Theatre on Saturday, is a magnetic drama that moves so swiftly and fearlessly across the screen that it holds every person who sees it spellbound. Not only is it great entertainment but it is supreme drama that amazes with its daring and startles with the ruthlessness with which it lays bare the perfidy of some men who pose as leaders—and who are, in fact, and at heart, parasites who live and thrive on their betrayal of other men. The storv has for its plot the plight of a man who trades his brains for money in order that he can give his wife the things she wants and his daughter the advantages of an education and pleasant surroundings. His employer, who hides his real feelings under a cloak of smug respectability, is actually a hypocrite who deals in wholesale murder. Claude Rains takes the role of the man who actually puts his own head on another man’s shoulders and gives a splendid touching portrayal. Joan Bennett, as his wife, gives the finest performance of her career. Lionel Atwill is marvellous as the sauve villain: in fact, every member of the big cast is letter perfect. Box plans at the D.I.C.
