Banking Section Steadier. BREWERIES DOWN. STILL SOME CONCESSIONS BY SELLERS. Quiet conditions still ruled on 'Change this morning, the main features being a further small drop in prices for New Zealand Refrigerating scrip and a further fall of 6d in Staples Brewery. Australian issues were again weak, but there were signs of a check in several instances. The Government section was quiet, with unsupported buyers in for most of the 4 per cent issues. Greater demand for local body and municipal debentures has been made lately, and business was reported this morning in Christchurch Tramway Board, 4$ per cent, 1954, at £lO5 10s. The banking section seemed to have reached its lowest rates,. and some issues were inclined to firm again. Commercial of Australia were steady with business and further buyers at 16s 3d. The market for Commercial of Sydney again improved, and the seller who at recent calls offered at £l6 2s 6d disappeared, quotations closing between £l6 and £l6 10s. National of New Zealand were still very weak. New Zealand seemed to be settling round 49s 6d, and the market for Reserves was steady from £6 9s to £6 10s. New Zealand Refrigerating shares fell away slightly, the contributing scrip selling at a reduction of 2d, the market closing with further sellers at 9s Id. For the fully-paid shares quotations were, buyers 19s 3d, sellers 19s 7d. The brewery section was quiet, Staples changing hands at a drop of 6d compared with yesterday’s business, and the market showed buyers 30s 9d, sellers 31s 6d at the close. Tooths were again weaker, and New Zealand stayed round late rates. Amalgamated Wireless (14s paid), cum dividend of 4 per cent, had easier quotations, and Colonial Sugar followed Sydney prices, the market closing from £39 5s to £4O ss. New Zealand Drug Co. scrip was firm, and Kauri Timber, which have been the only Australian stock not to ease in recent calls, still had buyers at 19s 4d, sellers at 19s 9d. In the mining section, Mount Lyell were most active, with Goldfields Dredging also selling freely'. Rawang Tin lost a point since yesterday, closing with further sellers at the sales price of 7s lid. Mahakipawa looked easier with offers to sell at lOd, and buyers Id lower. Waihi were stronger than ever, the market closing from 40s to 41s. In unlisted stocks, Macetown and Upper Watut had dealings, the latter at a drop of several pence. SALES COMPLETED.
