Chief-Detective W. H. Dunlop, who has been on holiday on the West Coast, will resume duty this morning. Guests at the Royal Hotel include Dr W. F. R. Dick and Messrs N. Atkinson and F. Brice (Marton). Mr E. 11. Andrews, a member of the City Council, will leave Christchurch to-morrow for three weeks’ holiday. The Rev Clarence Eaton, president of the Methodist Conference, left yesterday to attend the conference, which opens in Dunedin on Thursday next. Sir Charles Campbell. Canterbury, accompanied by Lady Campbell, will leave on Friday for Sydney, en route for England. Messrs J. C. Young (Palmerston North), T. Sharpe and D. Fraser (Dunedin) are registered at the Clarendon Hotel.

The Bishop of Christchurch, the Rt Rev Dr Campbell West-Watson, who was admitted to St George’s Hospital on Wednesday, returned home on Sunday.
Messrs G. J. Taylor, E. Binstone, F. 11. la Molte (Sydney), R. King (Auckland) and G. N. Baker (Wellington) are staying at the United Service Hotel.
Rear-Admiral Campbell, R.N. (retired), is at present visiting Christchurch. He is staying at the United Service Hotel. He will leave for the West Coast in two days’ time, sailing finally from New Zealand on March 15. Messrs R. Hudson (Dunedin), Middleton (Feilding), R. J. Murphy (Wellington), M. Kempson (England), R. R. Murphy (Gisborne) and F. Venn Brown (Sydney) are registered at Warner’s Hotel. Mr M. H. M’Kellar. a New Zealander who took up rubber planting at Negri Sembilan. in the Federated Malay States, twenty-four years ago, is revisiting the Dominion. He arrived in Christchurch this morning and is staving at the United Service Hotel.
Sir Archibald Edmonstone and Lady Edmonstone, who have been visiting the West Coast in the course of a holiday tour of New Zealand, returned to Christchurch last evening. They are staying at the United Service Hotel and will leave by car for the north today. Superintendent W. H. Barnard, of the Palmerston North Fire Brigade, was to-day elected president of the New Zealand branch of the Fire Engineers’ Institute of Great Britain. He was installed by Superintendent C. C. Warner, of Christchurch, the retiring president.
The secretary to the Lyttelton Harbour Board (Mr C. 11. Clibborn) left for Wellington last evening, and with the chairman of the board (Mr E. J. Howard, M.P.) will attend a meeting of the executive of the Harbours Association to-day. While in Wellington Mr Clibborn will also attend to some financial business with the Treasury. Dr P. F. Keppel, president of the Carnegie Corporation/ New York, who is making a tour of New Zealand, visiting libraries and other institutions, arrived back from the south with Mrs Keppel last evening. Dr Keppel, on arrival in Timaru from Oamaru yesterday, paid a short visit to the Public Library and the Timaru Boys’ High School. Dr Keppel, who is staying at the United Service Hotel, will leave for the north this evening.
