BATHER DROWNED.
Per Press Association. GREYMOUTH, February 17. William Reid, sixty-three years of age, married, of Hokitika, was drowned last evening while surf bathing on Hokitika beach. He was last seen by a companion, William Heenan, standing kne~-deep in the water. Heenan was further out, and on looking again found that Reid had disappeared. Reid leaves four sons and two daughters. Other bathers further along the beach knew nothing of the tragedy until Ileenan reported it.
