Drink His Trouble, Accused Pleads. The theft of a sewing machine from a vacant house was alleged against Thomas Henry Jones in the Police Court this morning. Jones pleaded guilty, and was given a chance bv Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M. Mr Mosley ordered him to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months. He said apparently the man’s trouble was drink. Detective Thomas said that the owner of the machine, Freda Perry, had lent it to a woman, who had changed her address, leaving the machine in the vacant house for a time. When she returned the machine was missing. The accused sold it to a hawker fos. 2s, but when the hawker found it had been stolen he had returned it to Jones. Jones was known to the police. Jones pleaded drink as the cause of the trouble. He had not been in trouble for five years. In ordering the accused to come up for sentence if called on within twelve months. Mr Mosley warned him that if he did not observe the prohibition order at present made against him. he would be brought up for sentence.
