“THE CAT’S-PAW.”
Harold Lloyd’s Latest and Funniest Comedy. The inimitable Harold Lloyd is featured at the Majestic Theatre to-day in his latest and funniest comedy, “ The Cat’s-Paw.” Writing of this hilarious show, a northern critic said: A little different from the old days when his quiet witticisms and bright cross-talk were features of his performance. Harold Lloyd assumes a role of a definite character in this new film—a role which he imbues with as much comedy as in the past. As the son of a missionary he is taken to China in his youth, and grows up in an atmosphere of Oriental philosophy and dreamy traditions. When he reaches manhood he is sent to America with instructions to collect a wife—a task not altogether easy. In one of the big American cities he finds conditions decidedly difficult, * and unwittingly becomes the tool of some unscrupulous politicians. He becomes mayor of the city—through no fault of his own—and decides to apply Chinese maxims to the conduct of his municipal duties. The note of high comedy running through the picture is sustained remarkably, and the bespectacled comedian shows that he has lost none of his mirthprovoking ability. In a strong supporting cast of comedians are such notabilities as Una Merkel, J. Farrell M ’Donald, George Barbier and Nat Pendleton, all of whom add their quota of fun to this delightfully-played burlesque. Box plans at the D.I.C.
