ALL BLACKS.
Selection of Team for England. SERIES OF TRIALS. (Special to the "Star.") WELLINGTON. This Day. It is expected that before the end of April the 1935 Rugby football season's match play will have commenced. All unions throughout . the Dominion are keen to make an early start mainly to give their players the opportunity of striking form early enough to have the opportunity of qualifying for the trials. The New Zealand Rugby Union’s management committee has been far from idle in the off season: apart from other things, it has had much business to do in connection with the visit by a New Zealand team to the Home countries this year (says the “Post”). In view of the importance of the tour and in order that as many players as possible shall be seen by the New Zealand selectors, it is the intention of the New Zealand Rugby Union to hold a series of trials probablv even more comprehensive than that of 1924. It is expected that all unions will have inter-club competitions under way immediately after the Easter holidays, and if this eventuates the chances, are that the players will have several weeks of match play (from the end of April) before the series of trials is commenced. The various unions, of course, will be notified of the New Zealand Union's proposals in ample time to enable them to make their plans accordingly.
