Minor Price Changes at Wellington. GOOD CLEARANCE MADE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, February 13. Minor changes in prices were seen at the third Wellington wool sale. The most satisfactory feature of the sale was the good clearance made, fully 90 per cent of the offering being sold at auction. A fair proportion of the pass-ed-in lots was cleared later by private treaty. Compared with the January sale average merinos were scarcely at par and average half-breds were barely ) firm. Cross-breds generally were j from par to one half-penny under January. Hoggets were quite firm, but lambs’ wool was easier. Best bellies 1 and pieces were a shade better, but I others below par. Competition throughout was very keen. Yorkshire dominated the buying in cross-breds. Top price for merinos was made by the well-known “Richmond Brook” clip of which nineteen bales of AA made 14id and nine bales of A.A.11. 13£d.

SYDNEY WOOL SALES SYDNEY. February 13. At the wool sales to-day 11,494 bales were offered and 10,390 sold, while 613 were sold privately. Values ruled firm at the best point of the previous day’s sales, with Yorkshire and the Continent competing freely for best wools and Japan for topmaking sorts. Full clearances were effected. Greasy merino made to 21d. MINING. Reports and Returns. During the week ended February 9 the following- work has been carried out by Golconda Mines, Ltd.:—Driving was continued on the main reef southwest and advanced sft, total from shaft 84ft. The reef lias turned sharply to the left and we had to come back and shoot the footwall off to straighten the drive. The reef is over 6ft wide and colours of gold are seen in the footwall ribs of quartz. The hangingwall quartz is now getting more mineralised and a little zinc blende is seen in the ore. Mataki Gold Dredging. The following is the official return for Mataki Gold Dredging Co. to February 12:—Yield, 27 ounces; hours, 134; yards, 13,400. Deep Lead, Xitd.
