BURGESSES MEET.

Opawa District Affairs Discussed. The monthly meeting of the Opawa Burgesses' Association was held last evening. Mr F. 11. Dephoff presided. The Town Clerk wrote stating that in connection with the erection of a library at Opawa the association’s letter was placed before the Finance Committee. It was decided that Councillors J. W. Beanland and J. Mathison confer with the members of the association on the matter at a later date. It was reported that the City Council and Heathcote County Council each had agreed to pay half the cost of painting the main Ileathcote bridge. Work will be commenced at an early date. The chairman stated that the proposed river carnival in aid of the funds of the Opawa Library had been postponed indefinitely. It was hoped that other organisations would assist in the arrangements.
