AN ARLEN STORY.

Constance Bennett as Iris March. “The Pursuit of Happiness” (Charles Ruggles and Mary Boland) will be screened finally on Friday night at the Tivoli Theatre. Michael Arlen became famous when he wrote Ihe Green Hat,” for fiction readers everywhere began discussing the unusual experiences of its heroine, Tns March. " Outcast Lady,” which will be screened for the first time at the Tivoli Theatre on Saturday, is a film adaptation of Arlen’s story, with Constance Bennett playing the part of the heroine. Herbert Marshall, the wellknown English actor, as chief romantic support, and Robert Forbes in a brief but important, role as her ill-chosen and ill-fated husband. “ Outcast Lady ” deals with the mad career of Iris March whose husband-boy, Fenwick, d * ed ° n we dding night “ for purity. _ as the original Iris informed an astonished London. The unhappy love affair of two young people which takes them through two marriages, away from each other and together again, and with tragedy never far removed from their lives, is told in a skilful and convincing manner in this film, and the happy inspiration of bringing together two such dfferent stars in the same picture provides many contrasts. Marshall s role as the man who is estranged from Constance Bennett because of the restrictions imposed by his father, is a difficult one, and he handles it extremely well. Others in an excellent supporting cast who deserve special mention include the effervescent Mrs Patrick Campbell. Hugh Williams, Elizabeth Allan, Henry Stephenson, Robert Loraine, Lumsden Hare, Leo Carroll, Ralph Forbes and Alec B. Francis. Box plans at the D.I.C.
