HAREWOOD BATH.

Steps to Be Taken to Build Pool. A well-attended meeting was held last night at the Ilarewood School to consider a proposal to build a swimming bath for the district. After discussion it was decided, on the motion of Mr A. Dixon, seconded by Mr 11. Smart, to take steps to build a bath. The following committee was set up tc report to a later meeting: Messrs P. Jesson (convener), A. E. Thornton, .R. Harris and A. Dixon (secretary). Mr A. E. Thornton, the convener, said he had convened the. meeting at the wish of a number of residents who thought the time was ripe for a swimming bath. Mr G. Shipley was elected chairman. Mr P. Jesson said that there was a surplus of funds left over from the recent jubilee celebrations and this would be the nucleus of a fund for the bath. Mr A. Dixon said that an estimate of the cost had been secured and it would be in the vicinity of £2OO. This would equip the bath with dressing sheds. If a working bee was held the cost would be less. Offers of Assistance. Mr Jesson said that in addition to the £2O from the jubilee committee there were two offers of £5 towards the work. In addition there was an offer from a swimming enthusiast who had promised to teach the children to swim. The chairman said that if the bath were placed on the school site there would probably be a grant from the Education Board.
