WHIPPET RACING.
Eighty Additional Dogs Classified. The committee of the National Whippet Racing Association of New Zealand tine.) met on Monday evening, the following being present:—Messrs K. H. Smith (in the chair). J. R. D. Johns (president). G. Biltcliff (Dunollie), W. Hibberd (Belfast). G. s. A Biltcliff (Invercargill), R. G. Sharpe (Dunedin), M. Robinson CNew Zealand) and J. Don (Wellington District) and Mrs F. E. Biltcliff (honorary secretary >. Handicapping. The Handicapping Committee reported that since the last meeting eighty dog.- had been classified, bringing the total up to 658 since the inception of the filing system. Thirty-five meetings had been arranged. It was pleasing to note that there appeared a slight dfcuinutiou in the number of mistakes made by haneficappers. The report was adapted. Mr G. S. A. Biltcliff tabled a review of handicapping during the past year. This dealt with the percentage of starters which had won races and the frequency with which dogs had won off certain handicap marks. A copy of these figures is to be supplied to tha Dunedin Club. Tite time limit is to be extended in respect to the dogs Carefree and Fleet Royal. Scratch Bsc*. The Belfast Club asked for tha association's ruling regarding the provision of a scratch race of 159ydt>. The club was granted permission to do so. Applications for readmission to tha second class were received in respect to Flying Scot, Lieutenant Bill and Tom Mix. It was decided to reclassify Flying Scot and Lieutenant Bill, but to refer the matter of Tom Mix to the Handicapping Committee. District Control. The committee set up to consider district control reported tiiat a meeting had been held on December 10, when the matter had been discussed thoroughly. It had been decided to forward a questionnaire to all clubs. The report Qf the committee was adopted, and it w*k decided to circularise such clubs as had not yet replied to the questionnaire. At the request of the Dunollie Club, it was decided to rescind the vote of • •ensure imposed upon the club's late handicap per. An application for affiliation from the Otago Whippet Racing Club was held over. The Wellington District Club reported that Mr J. Mears had been suspended as a member of that club. Mr Mears denied certain of the club’s statements, and asked for time in order to bring forward witnesses. It was decided to supply the Wellington District Club with a copy of Mr Mears’s letter, and to hold the matter over until the next meeting of the committee.
