WEAK CONDITION.

London Exchange Prices Fall. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February 13, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, February 12. Stock markets continued in a weak condition to-day and further falls occurred, particularly in British Government securities, War Loan 3£ per cent being marked down to £lO5 15s. This weakness of markets is attributed to reports, since emphatically denied by Mr Baldwin, of an early general election, and to the depressing influence of recent losses by commodity brokers involved in the pepper dealings. Government securities are particularly susceptible at the present moment, owing to the high prices at which they stand after the steady rise throughout the last three years. COMPANY AFFAIRS. Carlton Brewery, Ltd. The directors of the Carlton Brewery, Ltd., have declared dividend for the half-year ended December 31, 1934, at the rate of 10 per cent per annum, making, with interim dividend. 9 per cent fOr the year ended on that date, against 8 per cent paid for the previous year. Distribution will be made on February 28 and the transfer books will be closed from February 13 to 27 inclusive. Recent Dividends. Peters American Delicacy (Victoria), Ltd., interim, half-yearly, 6 per cent per annum, payable February 28. Winchcombe, Carson, Ltd., interim, half-yearly, 6 per cent per annum, payable February 19. Canterbury Saieyards Co. The sixty-first annual meeting of the Canterbury Saieyards Co., Ltd., was held yesterday. Mr George Witty, chairman, presided. The chairman, in moving the motiOn for the adoption of the report and balance-sheet (previously published), referred to the year as having been an improvement on those experienced lately. The unloading and loading of stock had still been carried on at. a loss and £146 4s 9d had to be written off for the year. During the year the New Zealand Government Stock had been sold at a premium and reinvested. The usual dividend of 5 per cent for the half-year was declared. Messrs E. Hay and D. W. Westenra were re-elected directors. At a meeting of the board, Mr George Witty Was elected chairman and Mr W. H. Clark vice-chairman. SILVER QUOTATIONS. British Official Wireless. (Received Febrr-Try 13, 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, February 12. Silver is quoted at 24 7-1 6s an ounce (spot) and 24 9-16 d (forward).
