BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS.
Successful Flower Show at Hornby. AN EXCELLENT DISPLAY. The annual flower show of St David’s Presbyterian Church, Hornby, was held in the Orange Hall on Saturday afternoon. The show which was officially opened in the afternoon by Mr 11. S. b. Kyle, M.P., was well attended. A large number of exhibits were on display, but owing to the unsuitable season the entries for the flower and vegetable sections did not exceed those of the previous show. Special displays of Mr Harold Busch’s bees and the process or making honey, also Mr W. H. Bush s hot-house plants and ferns caused considerable interest. The judges were:— Flowers, vegetables, decorative, fruit and pot plants, Mr W. Bayliss; cookery, preserves and produce, Mrs D. M Vinnie; home industries and photography, Mrs Brown and Mrs G. G. Henderson; school children’s sections, Miss E. BaehThe members of the Flower Show Committee were: Mr J. Williams (chairman), Miss F. Mackie (secretary) and Mrs Cammock (assistant secretary ), Mesdames Lloyd, Drake, R. Hepburn Price, sen., Mackie, sen., A. Mackie and Halliday, Misses Betty and Gwladys Roberts, Messrs R. J. Miss Boswell; Mr G. P. Kissel's trophy for most points in fancy work, Mrs Hall; Mr D. Mackie s trophy for most points in preserves, Mrs J. J. Curtis; Mr T. D. Lennie’s prize for most points in pot plants, Mrs W. H. Busch; Aulsebrook's trophy for most points in decorative section, Miss Janet Boswell; Mr A. H. Shrubshall’s prize for most points in cut flowers. Dr G. Lewis; prize for most points in show (Wheeler Challenge Cup), Mrs J. J. Curtis <63 points). Runner-up, Mrs W. H.
