SMILING FARMERS. Pahiatua Ewe Sales Show Good Prices. Per Press Association. PAHIATUA, This Day. Farmers of the Pahiatua district were all smiles yesterday after the annual ewe fair. A heavy yarding of IS,OOO attracted an unusually large bench of buyers. Considering the dry season and the shortage of grass prices were remarkably good. Sheep came forward in splendid quality and condition, a top line of two-tooth ewes realising 31s 9d. Another batch of 245 brought 295. Four-vear ewes realised 23s lOd and five year, 21s 3d. These prices represent an advance of several shillings on recent sales in surrounding districts. General opinion is that it was the best sale in the Wellington province this season. The chief buyers were Manawatu, Taranaki and Wanganui, one lot of 1000 going as far as Te Awamutu.
