FENDALTON PARK.

Poll on Loan Proposal to Be Taken. A poll of ratepayers in the special rating area on the proposal to raise a loan of £3500 for the purchase of land to provide a park for Fendalton will be taken on March 14. An announcement to this effect has been made by the chairman of the Waimairi County Council (Mr W. P. Spencer) and the County Clerk (Mr G. S. Cowper). It is stated that if the ratepayers decide on the park the rate will be among the lowest for any park in New Zealand. The security for the loan is a special rate of one-twentieth of a penny in the pound on the capital value of all the rateable property in the special area defined in the Fendlton and Wairarapa ridings of the county. The rate will be an annually recurring rate for the twenty years currency of the loan or until it is paid off. An amount of £3250 is required for the purchase of the land, £SO for the cost of the poll and the raising of the loan and £2OO for fencing, clearing and levelling the land and contingencies, making a total of £3500. The area it is proposed to purchase tains 7 acres 2 roods 21 perche*
