Miss Eleanor Foster, Riccarton, is the guest of Miss Peggy Unwin, Timaru. Miss Jean Gebbie, Jackson’s Road, who has been staying with Mrs Percy Overton, Scargill, has returned home.

Mrs W. Bower Black, Auckland, formerly of Christchurch, will arrive from the north to-morrow.

Mr and Mrs E. Greibel, Little River, who have been spending a holiday at Belfast, have returned home.

Miss Louise Croucher, Merivale, has returned from a holiday spent at Hanmer Springs Dr G. Boelke, Australia, has arrived in Christchurch from Hanmer Springs, and is staying at Warner’s Hotel. Miss Zoe Bowling, Oriental Bay, Wellington, is the guest of Miss Ngaire Caffin, Konini Street, Riccarton.

Mr and Mrs Hector Sinclair have returned from Auckland, and are staying at Stonehurst. Mr and Mrs Will Appleton have returned to Wellington from a holiday spent in the South Island.

Mr and Mrs L. M. O'Dell, who have been visiting Oamaru and Dunedin, have returned to Christchurch.

Miss Esme Cooper and her two cousins who have been staying with Mrs A. Boot, Lawrence Street, have returned home.

Mr and Mrs A. L. Cropp and family, Gloucester Street, will return home on Sunday from a holiday spent at their house in Queen Charlotte Sound.

Mrs W. H. Meddings. Montreal Street, returned to Christchurch this morning from a holiday spent at Titahi Bay, Wellington. Miss Doreen Wright, Kaikoura, who has been the guest of her grandparents, Mr and Mrs J. Wright, Little River, has returned home.

Mrs James M’Millan and Miss Barbara Lees have returned to Christchurch after spending a holiday at Timaru.

Mr and Mrs G. Grigg, Ilaldon Pastures, Hororata, and Mr R. C. Kellack, Hawarden, who hav-e been the guests of Miss 11. Montgomery, Wairewa, Little River, have returned home.

Miss I. M. M’Nab, who has been shorthand-tvpiste at the Queen Mary Hospital, Ilanmer Springs, for seven years, has been transferred to the Education Department. Christchurch, in a similar capacity. Miss M’Nab was the recipient of presentations and good wishes both from the office staff of Queen Mary Hospital and the Anglican Ladies’ Guild.

On her recent voyage from Antwerp to Sydney, the 6655-ton Norwegian steamer Thermopylae, carried a New Zealand lady doctor as ship’s surgeon. The surgeon was Dr E. G. Ileycock, of New Plymouth, who had proceeded to England for post-graduate training. Dr Ileycock, accompanied by her mother, arrived in Wellington yesterday by the Maunganui from Sydney. Dr Ileycock qualified at Dunedin in 1930, and was on- the staff of- the Palmerston North Hospital till 1933, when she left for the Old Country. She took a postgraduate course at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, taking the degree of D.P.11. She did local work in London, and on her way home spent some time on the staff of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, Sydney.

Miss L. Joyce, Salisbury Street, returned home yesterday after spending a holiday in Timaru. Mr and Mrs Harold Greenwood, “ Teviotdale,” North Canterbury, have left for Wellington. Mr and Mrs D. W. Westenra, ' Camla,” Dunsandel, have left for a visit to Wellington. Captain and Mrs Neill Rattray, Waimate, have returned home from a visit to Mrs Redmond Neill, Barossa.

Miss Olive Lyon, who was the guest of Mrs W. N. Orbell, Levels, Timaru, has left for Sydney, en route for England.

Mr and Mrs Gerald Sherman, Helmore’s Road, Fendalton, have left for Wellington on a motoring tour to Auckland.

Mrs John Reid, Oamaru, will arrive in Christchurch on Friday to visit her mother, Mrs A. Edmonds. She will stay at the United Service Hote 1 . Mr and Mrs Jeffery Manning, India, who have been staying with Mrs George Francis, Innes Road, have returned to Wellington. Mrs Maurice Warren and her children, Innes Road, have returned from a visit to Mrs Bruce Murray, Godley Peaks, Mackenzie Country.

The Rev and Mrs F. B. Redgrave and Miss Dorothy Redgrave, Fendalton, returned this morning from a ten months’ trip to England. Mrs C. J. Treleaven, St Andrew’s Square, and her sister, Mrs E. Brough-ton-Turner, England, left this morning for Stewart Island to see the races for the Sanders Cup.

Mrs Douglas Macfarlane. “ Rafa Downs,” North Canterbury, has left for Wellington to attend the wedding of her cousin, Miss Marjorie Morice to Mr Barry Blundell.

Mrs Leslie Dougall, Cashmere Hills, left this morning to visit Mrs Leyden Baker, at Motunau. Mrs Charles Ogilvie, also of Cashmere Hills, who was Mrs Baker’s guest, returned home to-day.

Mrs W. Hole, Miss L. Hole and Miss I. Garven, Iloon Hay Road, accompanied by Mrs R. Alsop, New Plymouth, have returned to Christchurch, after spending a week with Mrs G. L. Iloskin. Loburn.

Mr and Mrs C. J. B. Norwood and Mr Walter Norwood. Wellington will arrive in Christchurch on Sunday and will stay at the United Service Hotel. Mr Walter Norwood’s wedding to Miss Rana Redpath will take place the fol lowing Wednesday. Mrs B. Sutherland and Miss Jean Sutherland, Homewood,” Karori. Wellington, will arrive in Christchurch on Sunday to attend Mr Walter Norwood’s wedding to Miss Rana Redpath on Wednesday, January 30. Mrs Leonard George, Wellington, will arrive in Christchurch on Sunday to attend the wedding of her brother, Mr Walter Norwood to Miss Rana Redpath, which will take place tc-morrow week, January 30. Mr and Mrs H. J. Robins, who have been spending a year in Sydney, returned to Wellington by the Maunganui yesterday and arrived in Christchurch this morning. They are visiting Mr Robin’s parents, Mr and Mrs T. Robins, New Brighton. Mr H. J. Robins will resume teaching at the Waitaki Boys’ High School at the commencement of the new school year.
