H.M.A.S. AUSTRALIA.
Outing for Men at Ashley Gorge. The committee in charge of the arrangements for the entertainment of the officers and men of H.M.A.S. Australia met yesterday afternoon. Mr C. H. Clibborn presided Arrangements were completed for the supply of refreshments for the men who will be taken for a motor run to Ashley Gorge next Sunday It was stated that about 256 men would go. The Christchurch Defence Rifle Club wrote asking for assistance to defray the cost of transporting naval men by bus to RedcJiffs to take part in a shooting match. The request was granted. Reporting on the financial result of two dances on Monday and Tuesday at Frascati, the secretary said the receipts had totalled £l6 5s and the expenditure £6l 8s 4d, leaving a debit balance of £45 3s 4d. Authority had been given to spend up to £SO on the dances Members expressed pleasure at the success of these dances and said the work of the dance committee deserved recognition. It was agreed to place on record appreciation of the work of the committee.
