Foresters’ Lodge Holds Meeting. Court Queen of the Isles, A.0.F., held its first meeting of the new year at Lyttelton on Tuesday evening. Brother J. S. Hannah presided over a, fair attendance. The sick visitors’ report -was received and sick pay amounting to £3 10s was passed for payment. Correspondence was received from the district proposing a combined picnic of all the Courts. The secretary was elected delegate to the Picnic Committee. The election of officers resulted as follows: C.R., Brother D. S. Smith: S.C.R., Brother H. Ashworth; S.W., Brother O. G. Shuker; J.W., Brother L. Thomas; SB., Sister M. Johnson: J. 8., Sister J. Perry; secretary, Brother F. Coleman; treasurer, Brother C. W. Pentecost; H.K., Brother D. S. Smith; delegate to U.F.S. Council and Benevolent Association, Brother F. Coleman; auditors, Brothers L. Thomas and A. E. Sanders; delegate to district. Brother D. S. Smith. In honour of the approaching marriage of Miss Jean Reid and Mr Len Sharr, the members of the Holy Trinity choir, Lyttelton, and Tennis Club gave a gift evening in the Holy Trinity Sunday Schoolroom. During the evening Mrs S. Edgar, on behalf of the choir, presented Miss Reid with an eight-day clock, and Mr S. Tredennick, on behalf of the Tennis Club, presented her with a set of fish knives and forks. Games, competitions and dancing were enjoyed. Those present were: Mr and Mrs E. Hanna, Mr and Mrs B. Tredennick. N. Illingworth, R. Muxlow, Len Sharr and W. Patterson. Cricket Match. A friendly cricket match was played yesterday afternoon at Officers’ Point between a team from H.M.A.S. Australia and one representing the Lyttelton Miniature Rifles Cricket Club. H.M.A.S. Australia, in their first innings, made 117, Lyttelton responding with 144. The best scorers for the visitors were M’Lean (36), Madden (17) and Bowerman (17); and for Lyttelton, Arneson (38), Foulds (27), Wilson (25) and Miller (23). Swimming. The Lyttelton Men’s Amateur Swimming Club will hold a race from Lyttelton to Corsair Bay to-morrow. The
race will start from the ferry launch jetty and will finish at the Corsair Bay beach. Launches will accompany the swimmers. The handicaps will not be announced to competitors until their arrival at Corsair Bay. The following swimmers will compete:—A. Ericksen, A. Torrence, L. Coombes, E. Gilard. T. Riordan, A. Gosney, J. Boyd, J. Childs, I. Beaumont, W. Morris, W. Bethell and T. Holder.
