MUSICAL COMEDIES

“ Many Happy Returns ” and “Student Tour.” " Million Dollar Ransom ” and " Come On. Marines,” will be screened finally to-night at the Liberty Theatre. Two good musical comedies—“ Many Happy Returns ” and “ Student Tour”

—will be offered at the Liberty Theatre to-morrow. Jimmy Durante and Charles Butterworth have plenty of scope for their inimitable fooling in “ Student Tour.” It deals with the world tour of a party of college students, with Durante and Butterworth as the chaperons, and, as may be expected, the fun is fast and furious. Jimmy Durante is a comedian with a style all his own, and Charles Butterworth proves an excellent foil. But comedy is not the only feature of the film. Several tuneful songs are introduced, notably " A New Moon is Over My Shoulder,” “ From Now On,” and “ Taj Mahal,” and these are delightfully sung. In "Many Happy Returns” the principal roles are taken by George Burns and Gracie Allen, who appeared with such success in “ We’re Not Dressing” and “ International House.” These two comedians have become very popular with all types of audiences, and the inane remarks of Gracie Allen provide excellent humour.
