Ellis Brothers in Close Finish. MONIPERE'S FAILURE. (Special to the “ Star.”) REEFTON, This Day. The Reefton Jockey Club brought iti own meeting, and the West Coast circuit to a close yesterday with a good day’s racing. For the second day the weather was gloriously fine and the attendance large. The track was in good order. The totalisator handled £4786 10s, as compared with £4361 10s on the same daj r last year. The total for the two days was £9086, as against £9842 10s last year. Results:— In the County Handicap Imperial Spear was the first to show out from Zetes, Rose Val, Nautipol and Arctic Star. Sisterina moved off slowly and tailed off. Zetes took charge passing the stand and led into the back from Imperial Spear, Rose Val and Nautipol. Zetes continued in charge and led into the straight from Imperial Spear, Rose Val and Sisterina. Zetes won comfortably by two lengths from Imperial Spear, who was a favourite, with Sisterina a similar distance back, a head in front of Marmoration, with Arctic St£.r and Nautipol next. Third Success. Azevedo began smartest in the Second High-weight, and led past the stand from Animated, Patrole, Wino and Wise Choice. Going into the back Azevedo was just clear of Animated, and then followed Wino, Patrole, Wise Choice, Heather Glow and Night Guard. Azevedo led into the straight from Animated, Wino, Wise Choice, Heather Glow and Night Guard. Wise Choice drew out inside the distance to win by half a length from the fastfinishing Heather Glow, with Azevedo half a length further back and then Wino, Animated and Nightguard all close up. Wise Choice’s success was her third on the circuit. Broke Up Badly. Sans Peur was favourite for the Waiuta Trot, but broke up badly at the start and took no part in the race. Royal Travis was the pacemaker from Brian Boru, Royal Time and Erin’s Beautv. At the back Silver Whip and Awa Dillon made a forward move, following Royal Travis into the straight. Roval Travis went on to win comfortably by two lengths from Awa Dillon, with Silver Whip three lengths away. Shore Leave was fourth and then Atarau King. Won Well. White Doe recorded her twelfth success for her present owner when she led practically the whole journev to win the President’s Handicap. Lady Rene was the first to show out from White Doe, Marmorat.ion. Haere Tonu and Monipere. with Korero tailing off the field. White Doe led into the straight from Monipere. Haere Tonu and Lady Rene, with Importance and Farthouake coming fast on the outside. White Doe won well by a length from the fast-finishing Importance, with Haere Tonu half a length away third. Manipere was fourth, and then came Earthquake, Marmoration and Lady Rene. Chance Lost. The favourite Royal Amphora lost all chances in the Cronadun Handicap, when the stirrup leathers pulled out. Arrow Rose showed the way out to Margaret Rose. Royal Sceotre, Revision and Quebec. Margaret Rose drooped out at the straight entrance and Royal Sceptre, Quebec and Revision drew up to Arrow Rose at the distance. Royal Sceptre forged ahead, winning by half a length from Revision, with Quebec two lengths back, and then came Arrow Rose and Royal Amphora. Grecian Prince Scores. Grecian Prince, at a shade of odds on, won the Inangahua Handicap with the greatest ease. Zionist was pacemaker to the far turn from Cheap Money and Grecian Prince. The latter took charge at the straight entrance to win with ease by a length from Arrowmid. with Cheap Money two lengths back and Zionist fourth. Sans Peur Wins. Red Gold was turned in the opposite direction when the field was despatched in the Broadway Trot, and took no part in the race. Sans Peur raced to the front after the first furlong and led out of the straight from Erin’s Beauty and Brian Boru. On the next circuit Sans Peur led from Great Seaman, Minnetonka. Atarau King. Erin’s Beauty and Salute. Sans Peur maintained the lead to win by six lengths from Great Seaman, who broke up in the run to the post. Atarau King was four lengths further back. Then came Erin’s Beauty and Minnetonka. Just Got There. Grecian Prince was a solid favourite in the Farewell Handicap. Zetes was first out from Haulbowline. Wise Choice, Lady Rene and Grecian Prince. Going into the back Haulbowline took charge and led from Zetes. Grecian Prince. Lady Rene. Wise Choice. Importance and Royal Amphora. At the far turn Zetes was the leader from Haulbowline. Wise Choice, Grecian Prince and Importance, with the latter pair making up a lot of ground. Grecian Prince joined Zetes at the straight entrance, with Wise Choice and Importance next. Grecian Prince drew out inside the distance and was acclaimed the winner, but Importance finished brilliantly to get un on the post and win by a head, with Zetes two lengths back. Wise Choice was fourth. Then came Revision. Ladv Rene and White Doe. Importance was ridden a well judged race by L. T. Ellis, who lowered the colours of his elder brother, who appeared to have considered that he had the race won.
