The time has not yet been reached in New Zealand when the auctioneering cf an aeroplane is a common occurrence. A machine, an Avro-Avian, GA-ATY. belonging to Flying-Officer G- 1. Jarman, R.A.F., was put up for sale by auction by 11. Ernest Leighton. Ltd., at Rongotai Aerodrome yesterday (says the “Post”). It was passed in for private sale. Flying-Officer Jarman arrived at Wellington last month on furlough, bringing the aeroplane with him. lie had intended flying it from Khartoum. Africa, to Australia, via India, but because of the Customs requirements and the expense involved in that connection, and in other respects, the flight did not eventuate. The machine is powered with a dual control Genet Major 100 horse-power engine, and has a cruising speed of miles per hour, and a landing speed of 42 miles per hour.
