COOLER WEATHER.

Temperature Down to 64 Degrees To-day.

A pleasant coolness made conditions more bearable in the city to-day. Earlier there was promise of another hot spell, but by ten o’clock the sky had clouded over and a fresh easterly had sprung up. During the morning the sky was lightly overcast, with the sun coming through at intervals. At noon the temperature was 64.5 degrees. Similar weather was experienced over North Canterbury, coming as a welcome relief to the blazing hot conditions on the plains over the past few days. The shower of rain which fell yesterday morning only measured .04in, making the total rainfall for the year ,33in, compared with 2.16 in for the same period last year. The Government meteorologist pre- - diets fine, warm weather.
