PIPE BAND CONTEST.
Tudges for the Dominion Highland Pipe Band contest to be held in Timaru next month were appointed at a meeting of the general committee last evening. Mr A. H. Clemens presided. The judges are as follows: Music, Mr Barclay (Wellington); military. Colonel S. D. Mason (Timaru), officer commanding First Canterbury Regiment, Ser-geant-Major W. Edmonds (Ashburton), late King’s Own Shropshire Regiment, and Sergeant P. Brant (Timaru), N.Z P.S.; dress. Lieutenant J. H. Sin-clair-Thomson (Timaru), late Princeaa Louise’s Argvle ana Sutherland Highlanders; timekeepers, Messrs R. M’Glaa* han and J. O'Leary; pace checkers. Lieutenant C. Foster and Mr J. Toney* cliffe; marshal, Mr S. F. Hanson; supervisor, Mr A. Mathieson. It waa stated that the quickstep would be held at the Caledonian Grounds in the afternoon, and the selections at the Main School grounds in the evening.
