Plane Dives On to Troops. DISASTER IN INDIA. TRAGIC END TO MOCK BATTLE. United Press Asst:.—By Electric T el egra ph—Copy righ t. (Received January 9, 1.30 p.m.) CALCUTTA. January 8. Eleven men of the Baliech Regiment were killed and eleven injured when an aeroplane of the Indian Air Force crashed into a platoon of troops on the march between Karachi and the Ilubb River. The aircraft were practising machine gun attacks on troops on the march, to which the troops were replying by imitation rifle fire, when a plane failed to recover from a dive and crashed into the troops. Flying Officer H* C. Sircar, who was piloting the machine, and his Indian N.C.O. observer were both injured. Though the numbers of casualties given are official, it is stated that the actual correct number . cannot be ascertained until roll-call, because many of the bodies are so cut to pieces that it is impossible to make a complete identification.
