Turnbull’s Fine Win in Championship. QUIST BEATS HOPMAN. United Press , Assn.—By Electric Tt iegrc.ph—Copyright. MELBOURNE. January 8. The Australian lawn tennis championships were continued to-day. Results are as follows: AIIXED DOUBLES. Cummings and Airs TVestacott defeated Perry and Aliss Round, 6-3, 6-1. Quist and Afiss Lyle defeated Alalcolm and Airs Alalcolm, 6-0, 6-1. Boussus and Aliss Bickerton defeated Clemenger and Aliss Blick, 6-2, 6-4.

AIEN’S SINGLES. Turnbull defeated Boussus, 6-3, 6-3, Quist defeated Hopman, 8-10, 6-3, 9-7, 6-1. TVOAIEX’S SINGLES. Aliss Round defeated Aliss Blick, 6-4, 6-0. MEN’S DOUBLES. Perry and Hughes defeated Stefani and Ewin, 7 5, 6-3, 6-3. Quarter-final. Crawford and M’Grath defeated Kirby and Alalcolm, 6-4, 4-6, 8-6, 6-2. WOMEN’S DOUBLES. Alisses Dearman and Lyle defeated Misses Greenwood and Chittick, 6-1, 6-3. Playing relentless and vigorous tennis, Turnbull overwhelmed the French L>avis Cup player, Boussus, in three straight sets. Turnbull’s powerful service paved the way for dashing net attacks. which won him many points. Boussus’ game seemed weak after Turnbull’s hurricane tactics. Miss Round, who was out of touch yesterday, warmed up to-day after a poor start, though the Victorian girl extended her throughout the first set. After that Aliss Round played forceful tennis, leaving little doubt of the ultimate result. Quist was kept busy by Hopman in the early sets, but won eventually,, when Hopman was a spent force.
