Jennings, Timaru, are visiting Mrs L. A. Jennings, Papanui Road. Miss June Wright, Camside, Kaiapoi, is visiting her aunt, Mrs G. Ashly, Kilgour Road, Grej-mouth. Mr and Mrs Bede Loughnan, Fendalton, will return home to-morrow from a tour in the North Island. Mr and Mrs Eric Scott. Wellington, who have been spending a holiday in Christchurch, returned north last evening. Miss Joan Taylor, Opawa, who is going to England, where she will marry Mr Rex King, late of Christchurch, will leave Christchurch this evening. Miss M. J. Denniston, Hereford Street, who has been staying in Dunedin, returned home on Monday evening. Mrs C. M. Turrell, Wellington, arrived yesterday morning to be the guest of Mrs J. F. Buchanan, Kinloch, Little River. Mr and Mrs A. C. Gardiner, formerly of Hinau Street, Riccarton, will leave to-night for their new home in Oriental Bay Parade, Wellington. Mr and Mrs G. Ashby, Kilgour Road, Greymouth, who have been staying with friends at Kaiapoi, returned to the West Coast yesterday. Mrs M. Davies, Misses V. Davies, A. Raven, I. Dent and B. Restall are staying at Konini Bay, Queen Charlotte Sound. Miss Kathleen Keeley, Ashburton, is the guest of Miss Jessie Ball, Canvastown. Marlborough. Later she will go to Picton to stay with her brother, Mr E. M. Keeley. Mrs Claude Rawnslcv and the Misses Joy and Pamela Rawnsley, Innes Road, who have been spending a short holiday at Kaikoura, have returned home. Miss Adele Seay. Auckland, arrived in Christchurch yesterday morning and is staving with her parents, Mr and Mrs W. N. Seay, Church Lane, Merivale. Dr and Mrs Arthur Thomson, Montreal Street, will leave on Saturday* on a three weeks tour of Westland They will stay* at the Glaciers, and will later visit Picton. Recent \*isitors to Mountain House, Arthur’s Pass, include: Mr TJrquhart (Auckland), Mr Moore (New Brighton), Mr and Mrs Cayzer (Dunedin). Mr M’Donough (Westport). Dr and Mrs C. E. Beeby and their little daughter, Wellington, and Mr R. Winterbourn, M.A., Canterbury College, and Mr and Mrs Newman and family are spending the holidays at Marlborough Sounds. Mr and Mrs W. J. Graham, of Hockley, Essex, England, who have been on a visit to Mr A. Graham, Woolston, will leave to-night cn an extended tour of the North Island. They will sail from Auckland for England on February’- 15. Miss Hilda Otley*, St Andrew’s Square, will Lave on Saturday, February 9, for America. She will join the Monterey in Auckland and will go to Louisville, Kentucky*, to stay with Mr and Mrs F. S. Jenkins. Mrs Jenkins was well known in Christchurch before her marriage as Miss Bertha Harris. Mrs Arthur Hinman, Wellington, is visiting Christchurch for the wedding of Miss Gwen Morrison to Mr George Southgate this afternoon. She is the guest of Mr and Mrs C. J. Morrison. Cashmere Hills. Miss Phyllis Newcomb, Auckland, is also Mr and Mrs Morrison’s guest for the wedding.
Miss Kathleen Gresson, Christchurch, j is staying with Mrs B. E. H. Tripp, I Orielton. Miss Patricia Powrie, Cashmere Hills, | has returned from a visit to Mrs C. L. j Orbell, Pentlow. Mrs O. T. J. Alpers and family, Fendalton, have left on a motor trip to the Southern Lakes district. Miss Ilalmai Loughnan, Avonside, will return to Christchurch to-morrow from a visit to Wellington. Mrs Gerald Westenra and her daughter, Mrs H. C. Nolan, Wairoa, are staying at Akaroa. Mrs Graham Jamieson, Hereford Street, is visiting Invercargill for Miss Kitty Hazlett’s wedding to-day. Mrs Leslie Molineaux, Riccarton, has returned from a holiday spent at the Rakaia Fishing Huts. Miss Elsie Smith, Cashel Street, is spending a holiday in Auckland, after visiting Waitomo and Rotorua. Miss Dinah Sloman, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs William Deans, Sandown, North Canterbury. Mr and Mrs Peter Savage returned from Sydney last week, and have taken up their residence at Auckland. Miss Nancy Greig, Blenheim, is staying at Lower Hutt with Miss Louise von Zedlitz. The Rev and Mrs Vincent Gerard, Petone, are visiting Miss Gerard, “ Willowbrook,” Fendalton. Miss Dulcie Fleetwood, Leinster Road, is staying with Miss Mary Hiatt, North Canterbury. Mr and Mrs D.' Sinclair Murchison. Rossall Street, returned home to-day from a visit to Mr and Mrs lan Murchison, Lake Coleridge Station. Mr and Mrs Gordon Chrystall, Taihape, returned north last night from a visit to Mrs W. Chrystall, Colombo Street, North. Mrs D. E. Hutton and Miss Kathleen Hutton, Merivale, who have been spending a holiday at Timaru and Geraldine, have returned home. Mr and Mrs C. S.’Thomas and family, Innes Road, have returned from a holiday spent at Pleasant Point, South Canterbury. Mrs Snow, Invercargill, is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs L. W. Matson, Aikman’s Road. Mr and Mrs Matson will shortly move into their new home at Fendalton. Miss Agnes Hay, Park Terrace, and her nieces, Mrs M. Acton-Adams and Miss Marjorie M’Kellar, who have been staying at the Rakaia Fishing Huts, have returned home. Sir Cyril and Lady Ward, Merivale Lane, who left last night for ton to see their son. Mr J. G. D. Ward, off to England, will return to Christchurch on Friday morning. Miss Nancy Clibborn, 8.A., Bristol Street, has received notice of her appointment to the staff of the Hutt Valley High School, Wellington, and will leave at the end of the month to take up her new duties. Mrs Guy Pascoe has taken up residence in her flat in Oxford Terrace, after spending several weeks at Kowhai Bush. Miss Helen Ferrar, of Wellington, will come to Christchurch to-mor-row from Kowhai to be her guest. Miss Helen Thomson, Montreal Street, has returned home from a visit to Mrs J. D. ftfCracken, Havland, North Canterbury. Miss Lvndsey Thomson has returned from u holiday spent at Diamond Harbour. Miss A. Pollock Smith, Whangarei, is among the visitors staying at Stonehurst Private Hotel, Gloucester Street. Mrs W. Southgate and Miss Avis Southgate, Dunedin, who are visiting Christchurch for the Southgate-Morri-son wedding this afternoon, are staying I at Stonehurst.
