The body of John Arthur Moreton, aged 53 years, a married man, who had been missing from his home since Christmas Day, was recovered from under the Rattray Street wharf this morning. At the inquest a verdict was returned that Moreton committed suicide by drowning while in a state of extreme mental depression. GOLP AT SHIRLEY. Bourn and Garnett were all square with Ward and Seymour after four holes. Scott and M’Lean could not get a lead over Pumphrey and Blank till the fifth, when the local pair found bunkers and M* Lean’s birdie four was a winner. DATAL ACCIDENT. LEVIN, This Day. As a result of a motor-cycle accident, Martha M’Farland, aged 22, of Christchurch, was fatally injured.
