BRIGHTON DANCES.

Returned Soldiers Hold Carnival.

The Pier Hal] was crowded on New Year’s Eve when the members of the New Brighton R.S.A. held a carnival dance. The gathering was organised by the social committee, comprising Messrs W. Barclay, A. Nesbitt, T. Quaid, R. Andrews and R. D. Kennedy. A Monte Carlo was won by Miss Chapell and Mr C. Lewis and a lucky spot by Mr. P. Fleete and partner. Music for the dancing was provided by the Regal Dance Orchestra, and Mr W. Barclay was master of ceremonies. Among those present were: Mr and Mrs A. Nesbitt, Mr and Mrs F. The Hollywood tearooms, South Brighton, was the scene of an enjoyable carnival dance organised by the following committee: Mr and Mrs V. Pickles, Messrs R. J. Chegwin and G. Brooks. Dance music was supplied by Mr R. Paddi and extras were played by Mr T. Robson and Mr N. Kinsman. Messrs J. Flood and G. Brooks were masters of ceremonies. Items were contributed by' the following:—Miss G. Dobie, Messrs G. Rowlands. T. Robson, Winyock, Ebert and Deighton, and members of the South Brighton jazz band.
