LETTUCES MORE PLENTIFUL.

Green Peas Cheaper, But Cabbages Still Scarce.

FISH IN POOR SUPPLY.

There is an adequate supply of fruit and vegetables on the market after the holiday period, and prices which rose as a result of the Christmas demand have now returned to a more normal level. Stone fruit and tomatoes are in good supply. Lettuce, which were scarce before the holidays, are now fairly plentiful, but there is still a scarcity of cabbages owing to the prolonged spell of dry weather. Green peas, which rose to 2s Gd a peck just before Christmas, are now back at Is. Fish is in poor supply as some of the fishermen are not back from their holidays, and prices are slightly firmer in most cases. Egg prices are unchang ed though the demand has slackened.
