THE BRITISH-ISRAEL CLAIM FOR THE ANGLO-SAXON RACE.

To-day’s Special Article

Beliefs and Benefits of Movement: Based on Mass of Biblical Prophecy.

Written With the Authority of the British Israel Federation

By

F. K. Tucker.

We have been allowed by the courtesy of the Editor to tell as briefly as possible what British-Israel men and women believe, why they believe it, and what is the good of their belief. For the moment let us put our main claim baldly and briefly.

We find from our Bibles that Israel of old was to become in time just such a widely spread, wealthy and beneficent people as we Anglo-Saxons now are. Our Bibles tell us about fifty things about the future Israel, and every one of these things has come to pass in Britain and her daughter peoples. Npt only have they come to pass in Anglo-Saxondom, but they have been realised nowhere else.

W* COULD CALL these fifty or more things God’s labels for His future people Israel; tickets put on her so that the world might know her; identification discs by which God’s Chosen People might be recognised by those who really wanted to do so. Many in our churches don’t want to do so. They think there shouldn’t be a Chosen People at all. Well, let them think so. The Bible says there was to be one, so what those who think differently say doesn’t greatly matter. Had God devised onl}' two or three labels for Israel, almost; any civilised and Christian nation might claim to be the Chosen Race, since they would have the right marks. Let there be fifty or more marks, however, and nations will have some job to prove their claim, but the extraordinary thing is that there actually is a people in the world which has all the proper labels stuck on to it. and more extraordinary still, that people is too blind to see the labels. But then, that very blindness is one of God’s labels for Israel, so that explains that. Now, having found this one and only people that has every one of the fifty and more identification discs hanging round its neck, we tell the world that God wants us to see for ourselves that when He says a thing He means it, and is quite able and willing to do it. Our race has all the foretold marks and labels. God is the God of Truth. Therefore we are Israel. Such, briefly, is the British-Israel faith, and will any reader say where is the harm in such a faith. Not a Foolish Cult. It is not enough to see no harm in a faith, however; we must also see some good in it. Let us, therefore, ask about BritishIsrael the same question as little Peterkin did about the Battle of Blenheim* “ But what good came of it at last?” In other words, “ What benefit will come to the world through us British-Israel people sticking doggedly through thick and thin to the idea that we Anglo-Saxons are Israel?” Of course, the churches as a whole distrust and even denounce the British-Israel movement; the world of learning so far just laughs at it. This, however, has been the usual thing with all new truths when they first appeared. Our movement will go on just because it is not a foolish cult. Let us now show what will be the good of British-Israel when we do succeed in getting the Anglo-Saxon people to accept the idea that they are Israel. We are certain that earnest Christian people must feel unhappy as they look round the world and see the way our church leaders have come to speak about the Bible. Once it was always said to be the Word of God; now it is thought to be just a human record of humans dimly groping after God. The clergy appear to believe only parts of it—very small parts, too. They once used to believe a thing because it was in the Bible; now they seem almost to distrust it for that very same reason.

There is nothing surer, then, that the old faith in the truth of the Bible has gone for keeps, unless (thank God for the unless) we are Israel; unless our British-Israel teaching is also British-Israel truth. It is only that that can save the Bible, from the lions of the critics’ den. Digging in Bible lands has proved the history parts of the Bible to be true history, but how can it help the prophecy parts of the Bible? Only British-Israel can do that. We British-Israel believers say that the most telling proof in this century that the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit lies in the fact that its prophecies are nearly all fulfilled. A good half of the Bible is prophecy, and most of that is about Israel. It begins in Genesis and ends in Revelation. If this mass of prophecy has been true, then the rest of the Bible is true also. If it hasn't, the Bible is not true at all, and that is all there is ‘to it. The infidel would be right. And if the Bible is not true, the churches will eventually have to shut up shop. They are empty enough now, as a rule. Only British-Israel can save them from becoming absolutely empty tombs of a dead faith. British-Israel gives our Anglo-Saxon race a definite mission in the world. It prevents us from becoming fire-eaters and oppressors. Tt makes us God’s Chosen People. This does not mean that we are to be God’s pet.s. . 1 he Presbyterian Assembly seemed to think the other day that it did mean lust that. Thev thought also that BritishIsrael meant that we British are God's storm-troops. His bullies. His swashbucklers. Nothing could well be further from the truth. The White Man's Burden. British-Israel means that we AngloSaxons are God’s servant-race. He has said that in us He would bless “ all the families of the earth. * W e are doing this now, but only blindly and partially. Let us know that we are Israel and we will do the work all the better for the knowledge. It is our job to bear the white man’s burden and so fulfil the law of Christ. It is ours to tell the heathen the gospel story of Jesus, and to teach them the ethics of Jesus. We have to be the great philanthropic people of the world; to do the uplift work among the backward peoples. How can we do this properly if we don’t know that this is our job? Nationally we are a long way short of God's requirements. British-Israel would make us a nation of individual, practising Christian men and women. It would reform our laws and customs—and surely these sadly need reforming in good earnest. These two great results of British-Israel, its proof that all of the Bible is God’s Word and its trumpet call to our nation, are surely worth trying to get, and that is why eager men and women in the British-Israel movement never tire of trying to wake up our people to their true origin and destiny. They don't mind ridicule a bit if they are to be successful in God’s good time.
