Australian Embargo on N.Z. Potatoes. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received December 8, 11.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE. This Day. Regret that the New Zealand Ministerial trade delegation was unable to achieve the object of its mission was expressed at a function arranged for the entertainment of the delegates of the New Zealand Association in Melbourne. The chairman, Mr L. L. Beeson, said that Australia had missed something w'orth while when she denied herself New Zealand potatoes. He added that the New Zealand Association was proposing to institute a drive for relief funds for the flood victims. Mr J. G. Coates said that the visit was disappointing, but the conference had ended with the utmost goodwill. He added that things were improving in New Zealand and this year a surplus was expected. With reasonable opportunity for exports the load of taxation w'ould be lightened. New’ Zealand was glad of the proximity of Australia, because in times of stress many Australian exports were very necessary.
