WELSH CLUB ACTIVITIES.

A good attendance and a well organised programme were the features of the meeting of the Welsh Club cn Thursday evening. The proceedings were opened by the singing of the Welsh National Anthem, as sung in St Paul’s Cathedral, ' the solo being taken bv Mrs M. K. Jones. This was followed by the rendering of the air ‘-The Prince of Wales ” in the Welsh language. Prominent amongst the juveniles were Misses Olwen. Myfanwy, Elsie and Joan Griffiths, of Tai Tapu. who provided a rich fare of famous Welsh airs and recitations. Welsh solos were sung by Mrs Jones and Mr Griffiths, and a brilliant character sketch was given by Miss Hook. Mr O. R. Jones addressed the gathering on the humour of a Welsh celebrity. Appreciation of the valuable work of the accompanist, Miss Catherine James, was expressed by Mrs R. Wynn Owen and a vote of thanks was accorded to all who had contributed to the success of the evening, on the motion of the chairman, supported by Mr Owen Jones. A welcome was extended to Mr and Mrs A. A. Evans, of Aberdare, South Wales.
